Arena-Essex have landed a lucrative team sponsorship deal from Kent Sweepers Ltd on the eve of the 2001 season.

The Rochester based firm, who specialise in road and precinct sweepers, telescopic site handlers, rough terrain forklifts etc., have depots throughout the country, and all at the club are thrilled that they will be backing the Hammers in this year's Premier League.

They take over from the Eddy Grimstead Motor Company who were the club's backers last year.

After clinching the deal earlier this week, Hammers co-promoter Colin Brine
said, "Naturally we are thrilled to have secured the backing of such a high
profile firm as Kent Sweepers for the coming season.

"They take over from the Eddy Grimstead Motor Company who's assistance last season was greatly appreciated and I'm sure they will stay involved with the club in some capacity or other.

"Sponsorship for any team or athlete, whatever the sport they are involved
in, is so vital in this day and age and I'm confident we can look forward to
a long and happy association with Kent Sweepers which I'm sure will prove to be mutually beneficial.

"With the superb backing from Kent Sweepers now in place, one might say we are very much looking forward to 'cleaning up' all the honours in this year's Premier League!"

The announcement was made by Brine and fellow consortium members Adrian Kearney and Alan Sargent in front of the Hammers' faithful, who had gathered on Friday (23rd February) to attend the Arena-Essex Supporters Club AGM.

The AGM saw the committee of Carol McCree, Jan Warner, Diane Farmer, Kay Driscoll and Clive Cockrill re-elected en bloc.

During the course of the evening it was revealed to the healthy number of
supporters who attended that over 3000 was donated by the club to the
Hammers' riders last year to cover their expenses for fuel and oil at each
and every meeting.

"The Supporters Club here are simply superb," commented co-promoter Colin
Brine, "and our riders fully appreciate heir efforts as we indeed do."

The first social event organised by the TROY PRATT TESTIMONIAL SEASON
COMMITTEE takes place at the Raceway Tavern at the stadium on FRIDAY 16th March.

It takes the form of a Race Night, starts at 8pm and admission is just 2
for adults with kids admitted free of charge.
